The miniature net.art piece alludes to the 2001 book The Language of New Media by Lev Manovich, where he described New Media as being shaped through numerical representation, modularity, automation, variability and cultural transcoding. Hunger takes the books’ title literally and transfers it to the present. What does shape the language of online media in 2019? In his perspective it is the appellation of the user, the continuous call to action, the enticing, the nudging towards user activity which enables data accumulators to harvest data from user’s subjectivity.

TLONM 2019 is a playful three-dimensional sculpture made from words that rotate across the screen, a meditation about language and its uses. For the avid nerd who invests to look into the HTML code, the artist has left some secret messages of adoration. At the same time the rotating structure of the sculpture refers to a former piece by Hunger, the Utopia Generator (2015).
