Black holes on the internet
participation in the Acoustic.Space.Lab 2001
At the VIRAC Radiotelescope Observatory near Irbene (Latvia) about 30 artist came together to explore the capabilities of the RT-32 dish. I took part in hope to get some real data on real black holes. To enlighten my ongoing research on black holes on the internet (BHOTI). It didn't work out in the end because the dish at this time was not set up with the right receiver to gather the data, I was looking for, but still it was a very inspiring and unique moment. There exists a text in the Acoustic.Space.Lab reader which is based on a lecture on how to observe a black hole with radio telescopes, that was held in Irbene. Another text was published (in German) in Telepolis. Also I produced the track "when I went back again I've heard a voice that remembered me to" from the original material that was gathered with the RT-32.
Another and definetly more successful track which was produced in Irbene was "Kisloty DJ", based on a Russian eurodance hit in 2001 which was cut into pieces and rearanged. In the next step I produced a new text in Euroenglish and sang it along the cutup original. Here it is as MP3. And of course the text to sing along:
Kisloty DJ (francis remix)
Kysloty DJ (mp3 download 3,6 Mb)
Artists came together
near the baltic see.
Strangest place for ever.
Don't believe you me?
They found this radio telescope,
once again in full function,
and now there is the little hope
to find the space conjunction.
Kislotny DJ hey,
kislotny music,
kislotny people,
davai, davai i silej!
Can you here the signal
through the noise that we receive?
I've heard a change that is very small:
Cygnus X1, I believe.
We were looking for deep space audio,
instead we've got noise.
Now we'll send it to the public,
there is no other choice.
Kislotny DJ hey,
kislotny music,
kislotny people,
davai, davai i silej!
